Tailgate

Caution

Make sure the operating area of the tailgate is clear before opening or closing it. Keep your distance when the tailgate is moving. Failure to do so could result in injury.

The car is equipped with a powered tailgate that can be opened either manually or automatically. On steep inclines, the electric motor might not be able to lift the tailgate.

We recommend:
Open the tailgate manually when the car is parked on an incline.

Open/close the tailgate from the outside

When closing the tailgate manually, do not use more force than necessary. This could result in damage or loss of functionality.

There are two ways to open the tailgate from the outside:

•

With the button on the tailgate, after the car has been unlocked.

•

By holding the tailgate button on the key fob. See Use the key fob.

To open the tailgate, press the button located in the middle of the tailgate, just below the rear windshield.

To close the tailgate, press the button once on the inside of the tailgate. Quickly press the button twice within one second to close the tailgate after a 30 second delay, as long the key is still in the tailgate area. During the 30 second delay, there will be a continuous beep from the tailgate, increasing in intensity for the last 10 seconds. Any opening or closing action by the user will abort the delayed closing. If the key is taken from the tailgate area within the 30 second delay, the tailgate closes immediately.

Pressing the open/close button again while the tailgate is opening/closing stops it from moving.

When the tailgate is opening or closing, there is an audible signal. The lights in the luggage compartment automatically turn off when the tailgate is closed.

Note: If the tailgate is opened/closed several times within a short period of time, the automatic open/close function is temporarily disabled.

Note: If the electronic closing/opening does not work, try opening and closing it manually to initialize the tailgate.

Open/close the tailgate from the inside

Control the tailgate through the center display after navigating to

>Vehicle>Doors & Windows>Doors.

If it is not possible to open the tailgate automatically, it can be opened from inside the luggage compartment.

To manually unlock and open the tailgate:

Fold the rear seats to access the luggage compartment.

Press the protective cover clip.

Remove the cover.

Push the

lever downwards, while pushing the tailgate upwards and outwards to open it. If the tailgate lock is stuck, push both the

and

levers downward, while pushing the tailgate upwards and outwards.

The tailgate is always mechanically locked when it is closed.

Note: If the tailgate is automatically opened/closed several times within a short period of time, the automatic open/close function is temporarily disabled.

Set the tailgate opening angle

The tailgate can be set to open at different angles, for example if the car is parked in a garage with a low roof.

To set the tailgate opening angle:

Open the tailgate.

Adjust the open tailgate by hand to the preferred angle.

Press and hold the close tailgate button for three seconds until you hear two beeps.
