Use the towing eyelet
Warning
• |
Make sure that the towing eyelet is tightened all the way before using it to tow the car. Failure to do so could lead to the towing eyelet coming loose, which could lead to car damage, serious injury, or death. |
The towing eyelet is used to pull the car onto a flatbed truck. Remember, the car must only be towed with all four wheels off the ground. The towing eyelet is found in the on-board tool kit in the rear storage box under the front luggage floor. There are two points where the towing eyelet can be attached, one in the front and one in the rear.
If the flatbed ramp is very steep, or if the car has low ground clearance, do not use the towing eyelet or the car could be damaged.
To use the towing eyelet:
1. |
Lift the front luggage floor in the luggage compartment.
2. |
Open the rear storage box.
3. |
Open the on-board tool kit.
4. |
Remove the towing eyelet from the on-board tool kit.
5. |
Close the front luggage floor and tailgate.
6. |
To use the towing eyelet at the front of the car, press the front towing eyelet cover to open it. The cover is attached to the car by a wire.
To use the towing eyelet at the rear of the car, press the rear towing eyelet cover to open it. The cover is attached to the car by a plastic rope.
7. |
Screw the towing eyelet in tightly, until it cannot be screwed in any further.
After use, return the towing eyelet to the on-board tool kit in the rear storage box and close the towing eyelet cover.
Note: If the car is equipped with a tow bar, the rear towing eyelet point cannot be used. The tow bar cannot be used to tow the car.
