Precondition the battery
The battery can be preconditioned for both AC and DC charging, which can improve the battery's performance and lifetime, and reduce charging time. Due to the differences in charging time for AC and DC charging, this works differently depending on the powersource.
Precondition the battery for AC charging
The car is equipped with a battery temperature maintenance system. This can be used to precondition the high-voltagebattery for one hour around a set time. Since AC charging is not as fast as DC charging, preconditioning is started after AC charging has been started. This feature may add a small amount of charging station energy consumption.
To rurn on the battery temperature maintenance system:
| 1. |
Make sure the car is connected to an active AC charging station.
|
| 2. | Navigate to
|
| 3. | Activate Battery Temperature Maintenance |
| 4. | Set a departure time. |
| 5. | Press Save. |
We recommend:
Use the battery temperature maintenance system when the ambient temperature is above 40 °C or below 0 °C.
Use the battery temperature maintenance system when the ambient temperature is above 40 °C or below 0 °C.
Precondition the battery for DC charging
Since DC charging is very quick, the battery is preconditioned before arriving at the charging station. To activate battery preconditioning for DC charging, set the navigation system to navigate to a DC charging station. The car will automatically adjust the battery temperature to the optimal temperature while traveling to the charging station.
Manually precondition the battery for AC/DC charging
The battery can be manually preconditioned for both AC and CD charging before arriving at the charging station, without setting a charging station as a navigation destination.
To manually activate/deactivate battery preconditioning:
| 1. |
Navigate to .
|
| 2. | Press Battery temp regulation. |
Battery preconditioning automatically deactivates once the car is connected to a charging station. It also automatically deactivates when the car is turned off or if the battery is below 20%.
Note: Battery preconditioning consumes power. It should only be activated when the car is on its way to a charging station.
